Job Scope:

Reporting to the Electrical Mechanical Systems Manager, the Senior Electrical Engineer will carry out or product development /sustaining activities for complex medical devices consisting of mechanical, electronic embedded micro-controllers and software.. Within a cross-functional team, provide electrical engineering leadership from concept through production. Support/complete draft high level requirements, development of hardware architectures, design system framework, to ensure requirements are satisfied throughout the development process ensuring compliance with quality systems. The chosen candidate will drive proper application of sensing or electrical based technologies and processes, guide brain-storming, and quickly parse multiple design approaches through analysis and rapid prototyping. In addition, the candidate will bring a understanding of manufacturing methods and processes to ensure high confidence in vended component selection to ensure design reliability, sustainability, compliance and alignment with manufacturing process capabilities. Outside the cross-functional team, the candidate may be called upon to provide analytical peer reviews, including alternative design recommendations to address deficiencies. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as experience with laboratory test methods and instrument applications. The candidate will deliver designs geared toward efficient manufacturing transitions, provide operations guidance for make vs buy decisions, and assist with supplier selections when called upon.


Job Requirements:

• Independent innovative thinker with strong background and experience in medical device design through launch of complex embedded software micro-controller based medical devices.
• Strong background in life sciences, bioengineering, medical device development processes are a plus
• Experience in, and a successful track record of, in the development of complex software controlled electromechanical (i.e. motors, fluidic pumps, pneumatic proportional valves, solenoids, flow, gas, pressure sensor based medical devices, a plus.
• Experience with methods of system verification and validation of electronics/software activities.
• Experience in outsourced medical device manufacturing, manufacturing technologies, test and data collection methodology and process development to ensure a quality product. a plus
• Experience with specification development and the application of, sensors and actuators related to bioengineering.
• Ability to apply FMEA principles to assess engineering trade-offs for ease of service, ease of manufacturing versus reliability in the packaging of electro-mechanical assemblies to ensure patient safety. A plus
• Knowledge of medical device electrical safety regulations EN60601, IEC 60601, & UL 60601-1 FDA 21 CFR part 820 GMP, design controls, ISO13485, regulatory audits and international environmental regulations. Track record of success in the development and maintenance of 510K/PMA regulated products, (FDA class 1 or 2 life support, a plus).
• Knowledge in reliability or environmental tests methhodology including Halt, Hass, DOE, a plus.
• Proficiency in Electrical Engineering CAD tools (i.e Altium Designer, Digital / Analog simulation)
• BS in Electrical/Electronics engineering with 5+ years of applicable industry experience is required. MS/MBA or advanced degree a plus.
